ONE WEEK TO GO !!

ONLY 1 week until we leave for vacation for 1 whole month !
The time has been going so quickly - we sure hope we will be ready ! Yesterday I "lugged " out my clothes to the RV and told Ron I will "lug " his IF he puts out what he wants to take ! He said okay - - but as of yet, I have not seen any of his clothes ! BUT I will admit - he is outside checking everything every day - to be sure the RV is in order for our 1st jaunt out this year.

We really wanted to go as far as Palm Springs BUT with his back injury - I think if we get south of Vegas - that will be far enough for some really warm weather. !!

CALGARY ABSTRACT COLLECTIVE

WHEW !!    A BIG NAME ! !    A group of 8 Calgary Abstract Artists ( myself included ) have joined together to form the above named group.   We had our 1st meeting on Sunday March 24th to pick our groups' name, decide on various responsibilities, prepare our Group Artist Mission Statement, decide on the where's, when's, how's, etc, of our upcoming art shows.

We all enjoyed the meeting and I would say all are really '' pumped '' to get his off the ground floor and "moving forward ''.   We all have lots to do and knowing this group - I would say it wont be difficult..

I am so pleased to be part of it and of course encouraged even more to prepare more canvas's.     CAN"T   WAIT !!

Yesterday - Saturday was a great day to paint ! I threw in several loads of laundry and went down to work on my canvas's. Had lots of time, lots of energy and inspiration. Picked up a canvas that had been sitting there for quite some time as I was not happy with it. Started working on it - - it came together beautifully for me ! Picked up another canvas partially complete - worked on it - another one that I was happy with ! My day went on as these were drying and I was working on more canvas. Some days are like that - depending on your frame of mind or your energetic and artistic levels - some days become so productive and satisfying !! Excited to be back in the flow of things ( the paint ) !!

PUMPED I

Saturday - Feeling pumped. Discussing with other Calgary artists to form a group and choose a name, create our own group website, have group shows. All of these artists have their own special and unique talents and personal brand. It will be fun as we all have much in common in that we have been in various classes together, we have already had shows together and we all have the same motivation or direction in which we wish to proceed. The next few months will prove very interesting if we all go ahead with this. Keep tuned and I will try to give more info later on.

BLIZZARD DAYS ARE GOOD DAYS !

YES - A cold blizzard day in Southern Alberta ! Need to keep warm !   What better things to do than start to make a couple of apple pies at 10am, then brown some wings at noon for an appetizer dinner in the evening. Clean up the mess of dishes and pans - you all know I am a ``Kitchen Gal ! ``.   Love it !!   Could be in there all day long - except for when I am painting on canvas, of course !! Which - by the way, I started at 2pm.

Started applying impasto & colors. In my own little area of solitude. The colors & movement went well. Feeling joy,, anxious to continue with more.
But I did stop and rush upstairs to make the dinner that I had started earlier in the day. . Dinner was amazing - 2 flavours of wings, a big ceasar salad with other veggies and dip on the side. Two great wines - a Pinot Noir and a Green Apple Risling paired well with the meal. I like reds and Ron likes whites. There is still plenty left in each bottle !! The pie topped it all off !! Now we both will need to take it easy on the food tomorrow as we are really full tonight !!

9pm now and I am still running down to look at my painting as it dries - deciding if I will add more color or not. Carefully scanning the whole canvas to see what I really want on it. Its almost dry - looks good but I will sleep on it tonight and when I next look at it - I will decide if it is done or needs a little more added to it

This is the beauty of paint and canvas.. Add, Take Away, Change, whatever we feel at the moment !! . . .

I am an artist. I have taken numerous classes and workshops since 2004 as shown under About in my CV. I work out of my home. When painting on canvas, I often loose track of all time. I am alone and quiet, peaceful and excited, ambitious and energetic. I am in place between body and mind - my hands doing something that my mind makes them do and ultimately - another painting !
